Caregivers

If you are a caregiver wishing to relocate to Canada, there are several options available to you.

LCP (Live-In Caregiver Program)

The Live In Caregiver Program is designed for those who are already employed in Canada. Before you may apply, you must have at least two years of experience in this field. In order to apply for permanent residency via this program, applicants are required to:

  • Have 2 years of work experience in the program
  • Have an approved LCP work permit
  • Be working in Canada with an LCP work permit

In addition, carers must be accepted for their first LCP work permit based on a positive LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) application submitted by an employer on or before November 30, 2014.

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot provide a path for qualifying caregivers to become permanent residents of Canada.
They must have two years of Canadian job experience to qualify for Permanent Residency.
Please keep in mind that caregivers with work experience in NOC 4411 (excluding foster parents) are eligible for permanent residence under the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.

Home Support Worker Pilot

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot provide a path for qualifying caregivers to become permanent residents of Canada.
They must have two years of Canadian job experience to qualify for Permanent Residency.
Please keep in mind that caregivers with work experience in NOC 4411 (excluding foster parents) are eligible for permanent residence under the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.
